A look back at the 2026 Induction Week
The first week of training is already over. Our media technology apprentices tell us about their experiences during our induction course.
Made up of young people from all over Switzerland, speaking different mother tongues and following a variety of vocational training courses, the group was very diverse. On Monday morning, outside the auditorium, the excitement was palpable. Some had never met before, others hadn’t seen each other since the welcome day, and everyone was both eager and a little nervous about what lay ahead. Once inside the auditorium, the apprentices were given their first briefing about the week. Shortly afterwards, with their suitcases and luggage in hand, they boarded the bus to Sarnen to head to the Lagerhaus Ei. Once there, a delicious lunch was waiting for them. In the afternoon, a workshop on the theme of ‘Learning to learn’ was on the programme. This workshop, which was partly interactive and organised in small groups, made the experience even more engaging and provided an excellent opportunity to get to know one another.

On Tuesday morning, the apprentices started the day after a more or less restful night. A delicious breakfast gave them the energy they needed to tackle the day ahead. Tuesday was, in fact, devoted to work. The apprentices put their skills to good use for the local community. The tasks were very varied: from cleaning the swimming pool facades to weeding in the mountain pastures, there was something for everyone. When everyone returned to the warehouse, exhausted, in the afternoon, all they wanted was a quick shower. But they all agreed: it had been tiring, but it still felt good to have done something for the community.
Reflections on a day’s work
Wednesday was a highlight. The pupils went on a hike in small groups to Flühli-Ranft. During the hike, they had a chance to chat and get to know each other better. And then, of course, there was the fact that everyone had been given little water pistols. This made the hike even more fun in the heat, and during the short breaks, little water fights would break out constantly. In the evening, an optional round of mini-golf had been planned. But as it was raining, the apprentices were able to spend the evening together in the camp house.
Then came the final day in Sarnen. On Thursday morning, after breakfast, all the apprentices were divided into groups to clean the house. Once this task was completed, they set off by coach for Ebikon. There, all the apprentices were treated to a free lunch at the staff canteen. After the lunch break, several group photos were also taken.
The apprentices from the other branches then took part in an interesting guided tour of the campus, whilst those from Ebikon took part in an orienteering course. The highlight of this course was a visit to the Schindler Tower. From the top, there is a breathtaking view of Ebikon and the surrounding villages. In the evening, all the apprentices returned home.
On the final day of the induction week, apprentices from other branches had returned to their respective sites, whilst those from Ebikon took part in safety training sessions in the morning.
This gave them the opportunity to familiarise themselves with important safety measures. To round off the day, HR workshops were on the programme, one of which involved a fun game.
For most of the apprentices, this week marked the start of a new chapter in their lives: working life.
The week was very varied. Every day, an exciting programme was on offer, with plenty of time to chat with the other apprentices and make new contacts. The week was therefore a real success.
